Ian Stewart

Ian Stewart has over twenty-five years of public networks telecommunications experience with both technology providers as well as with consulting companies serving network operators world-wide.

Recent assignments include:

  • Developing a strategic plan for the MMDS wireless industry within the US market.
  • Development of a US market entry strategy for a packet based wireless vendor.
  • Analysis of optical access technology opportunities within the US marketplace for an Asia/Pacific vendor.
  • Analysis and strategic positioning of the Signaling Transfer Point (STP) product line for a US telecommunications vendor.
  • Strategic positioning for a technology company developing modem products for the broadband wireless marketplace.
  • Analysis and recommendations on a unified messaging market plan for a convergence vendor.
  • Analysis of best in class IP network architecture and business model for a major European carrier.
  • Analysis and recommendations for an investment firm studying the professional services marketplace.

Prior to joining TSS Mr. Stewart was the Managing Vice President of GartnerGroup a well known technology research and consulting firm. He also held positions as head of Bell Northern Research's R&D facility in Raleigh, North Carolina, General Manager and Vice President for Northern Telecom's North American Switching Business Unit and President of Rendall and Associates.

Mr. Stewart has also held positions as Director of Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center and has been a member of the Carnegie Mellon Board of Academic Services.

Mr. Stewart holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a MSc degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia.
